Here is what you can expect:
The first three competition days will run in a typical round robin style – with some differences:Days One through Three:
Novice, Pre-Competitive and Competitive Junior Age Division (ages 4 to 9)Novice, Pre-Competitive and Competitive Intermediate Age Division (ages 10 to 13)
Novice, Pre-Competitive and competitive Senior Age Division (ages 14 and up)
Day Three:
The top Junior, Intermediate and Senior Solo, Duet/Trio and Group/Line/Extended Line from each studio are announced at the end of Day Three. Finalists MOVE on to Day Four!Spotlight Awards - These awards will be awarded to the top three Novice and Pre-Competitive scores in the Junior 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 age categories. We also award the top three Pre-Competitive scores in the Senior 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 and 19-20 age categories. Please note that there is no Novice competitive category in the Senior age division. Winners of the Spotlight Awards receive trophies and cash awards!
Day Four:
Junior Finalists start performing at 12:00 pm, followed by the Intermediate and Senior Finalists.Each finalist entry is critiqued live by our panel of judges.
Our panel of judges, along with Shawn Desman, will decide the MOVE Champions! Winners are placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each of the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Soloist, Duet/Trio and Group categories.
Scholarships are awarded as chosen by our judges. Adjudicator Choice Awards are announced in the following categories: Choreography Award, Costume Award, Studio Spirit Award, Most Potential Award, and The "You Can MOVE Award"
"Every studio has a chance to compete in our finals-Every studio leaves with cash and trophies"
Dancers in the finals will be judged not solely on their technique but also for stage presence, creativity, choreography, costumes and overall performance quality.
Our Team
Shawn Desman
has been in the entertainment business for over 20 years as a singer, dancer, songwriter, producer and actor. Shawn’s debut album went Platinum and is attributed with chart-topping singles, videos, and several movie roles. Shawn is passionate about his roots in the dance community and strives to bring a unique experience and atmosphere to all of the dancers. His experience and passion for dance will ensure your love of MOVE!
